Executive Director, Center for the Study of Global Change

Indiana University seeks an Executive Director for its renowned Center for the Study of Global Change. The Center is a national and university-wide hub for intellectual activity, publishing, teaching, and professional development related to international education and global and area studies.

A core component of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, the Global Center is the recipient of major grants from the Social Science Research Council, the U.S. Department of Education, the MacArthur Foundation, the U.S. Department of Defense, the British Council, the Mellon Foundation, and others. The Hamilton Lugar School is the nation’s largest recipient of Area Studies and language education grants under Title VI of the Department of Education’s International and Foreign Language Education Program. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2020. The Executive Director would plan, initiate, and oversee a vigorous research, programming, and educational outreach agenda.

Assistant Professor, Modern and Contemporary Japanese Literature and Cultural Studies

Indiana University's Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in modern and contemporary Japanese literature and cultural studies to begin August 1, 2020.The position is in HLS’s renowned multidisciplinary Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. The successful candidate will be able to work across arts and humanities disciplines and have expertise in one or more of the following areas: modern and contemporary Japanese literature, film, popular culture, and media studies. We especially encourage those scholars to apply whose work cuts across genres and media.

Assistant Professor, Contemporary Japanese Politics and Society

Indiana University's Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies seeks a full-time tenure-track assistant professor of contemporary Japanese politics and society, broadly defined, to begin August 1, 2020. The position is in HLS’s renowned multidisciplinary Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. Teaching responsibilities encompass both undergraduate and graduate courses and will include the teaching of a new course on "Japanese Politics and Society."
