Banks joins the Hamilton Lugar School after serving as an academic advisor in the Hutton Honors College. Before coming to IU Bloomington, she held positions as a study abroad and international student advisor in Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota. She was also an assistant language teacher in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme and lived in Nagoya, Japan for more than three years.
Banks serves as Assistant Director of Student Initiatives and Special Assistant to the Assistant Dean where she is in charge of creating, planning, and implementing student programming for the School. She also helps to build relationships with partners on and off campus to increase opportunities for students in the areas of global engagement, belonging and inclusion, and professional development and supports the Assistant Dean on curricular planning and other student initiatives.
