Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors are here for all HLS Undergraduate and Graduate Students! Peer Mentors offer support and guidance, connecting students with opportunities and building HLS community through inclusion, engagement, and individualized attention.

Peer Mentorship is meant as a supplement to other student services at HLS and IU--and while Peer Mentors cannot replace academic advisors, faculty mentors, or mental health professionals, these student leaders offer the kinds of support that can only come from fellow students who are also navigating opportunities and struggles of student life.

Peer Mentor office hours:

  • Mondays 4-5pm, GA1042
  • Tuesdays 3-4pm, GA1042
  • Thursdays 3-4pm, GA1042

Graduates

Ryan MacDonald (he/him/his)

Major: International Studies
Minor: Sociology
Languages: English; Latin; German; Mandarin

My present area of focus is the United States semiconductor industry and seeing its further development as a matter of national security.  The strategic importance of having a US-based semiconductor industry is greater than even oil. My argument for this strategic significance is we have alternatives to oil, but there are presently no alternatives to silicon-based semiconductors. To help address these concerns I hope to be able to work in issue advocacy and policy writing either in the private or public sectors.

Vivian Costello (she/her/hers)

Major: International Studies
Language: Mandarin Chinese

I am a first-year graduate student perusing a master’s degree in International Studies with my research focusing in on East Asia and how political ideology in the 20tth century shaped its current politics and economic situations. I one day hope to live and work abroad, but until then, I wish to travel to as many different places as I can.
