Students who participate in the HLS Internship Program may qualify for funding through the Dean’s Scholarship. Students completing a domestic and/or remote internship can receive up to $1500, and students completing an international internship can receive up to $2500.

About the Institution: The Center for Refugee Studies at Indiana University builds understanding about forced migration around the globe and creates new ways to help some of the world's most vulnerable people. Through our research, teaching, and media work, we share important ideas about ways in which to help people who are forced by violence and disaster to leave their homes.

About the Internship: The Homeowner Services Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the success of the Sweat Equity Program by ensuring the seamless coordination and availability of essential resources. This includes facilitating and overseeing class sessions, confirming instructors, securing interpreters, caregivers, and ensuring that all logistical details are managed. About the Internship: Lotus internships offer a variety of experiences including marketing, event planning and logistics, inventory and supply management and organization, coordination of people including volunteers and staff, communications and graphic design. About the Institution: The Simmons Center for Global Chicago, a nonprofit center based in the heart of Chicago, provides a nexus for globally active nonprofits to build community and collaborate to create a healthier and more equitable world. Our members are locally-based, globally engaged nonprofits; and we partner with Chicago-based educational institutions, donors, companies, consultants, and others.
About the Internship: Interns are assigned to work with Simmons Center member nonprofits on projects they propose that address specific needs within their operation. The interns gain exposure to the work of global nonprofits and real job experiences.
Much of the work is completed independently, often working remotely. Some member organizations request in-person support and interns work in-person at the Simmons Center approximately 1x/week.
Key Responsibilities:
With guidance from Simmons Center staff, interns take on and complete a variety of requests from the multiple nonprofit member organizations including, but not limited to:
Design social media content
Research potential funding sources
Help plan, coordinate and source vendors for fundraising events

About the Institution: Building Tomorrow’s (BT) mission is to promote community-powered learning with a vision of literacy and numeracy for all children. Based in Indianapolis, BT partners with underserved communities in Uganda to address a learning crisis where over 83% of primary-aged learners lack foundational skills. Its model focuses on remedial learning programs in addition to enrolling out-of-school children by mobilizing communities to invest in their children’s education thereby creating sustainable change. Since 2006, BT has enrolled 170,000 out-of-school children, constructed 87 government-aided primary schools, and helped ensure literacy and numeracy for more than 560,000 children.
About the Internship: The Communications Intern will join Building Tomorrow’s six-person Strategic Partnerships team, working under the supervision of the Partnerships and Communications Coordinator and also in collaboration with the Uganda-based Storyteller. The intern will support various communications initiatives, including planning, drafting, and editing content for both internal and external audiences, as well as contributing to social media efforts. About the Institution: Exodus Refugee welcomes refugees from all over the world to Indianapolis and Bloomington to help them start new lives in Indiana. We work with refugees for up to five years after they arrive to help them become self-sufficient.
About the Internship: The Development Intern will assist with Exodus's fundraising and marketing efforts. These could include:
Assist with donor engagement and stewardship by crafting thank you letters, creating videos, and developing special events/recognition programs

Butterfly Space: An eco-friendly lodge that combines sustainable tourism and community development.
Malawi Schools Permaculture Clubs: A nonprofit that promotes permaculture principles to children in Malawi by supporting teachers who want to run after-school permaculture clubs.
EARTH: EARTH delivers Agroecology based workshops to empower communities to independently work towards becoming resilient, to adapt, and tackle climate change. The program focuses on increasing food and water security, improving nutrition, rebuilding natural ecosystems, soil health, improving local economies, and tackling deforestation.

About the Institution: UNANIMA International is a nongovernmental organization founded in 2002. For over 20 years our focus has been on advocating on behalf of these women and girls, children, and other marginalized groups who are furthest left behind, and bringing their voices, perspectives, and experiences to the United Nations. Through advocacy, research, education, collaboration, and action, we aim to educate and influence policymakers at the United Nations on the areas of gender equality, migration, and climate change through a human rights based approach. About the Internships: The Engagement and Development Intern(s) would help with several projects related to volunteer and donor engagement. This would include donor database management and clean-up; donor stewardship activities; volunteer training and management (both in-person support and through written/phone communications); and event support. This position would provide a hands-on experience to support a local nonprofit organization, connect with hundreds of community members, and make an impact on the families served through the program.

About the Institution:NCEI is working on two projects. First project is creating a Music Festival titled SalsAfrica Rhythm and Soul for late summer/fall of 2025 as one of many steps in making this region a mecca for African and diasporic music and dance.
