August 24, 2020
Dear students,
Welcome to the Hamilton Lugar School and the 2020–21 academic year! We commend you on your decision to move ahead with your studies at this difficult time—whether in-person or at a distance. It’s testimony to you and your commitment to making the world safer and more just—like the public servants after whom our school is named, Rep. Lee Hamilton and the late Senator Richard Lugar, both gentle giants of American diplomacy.
Whether an incoming student or in your final year, you will be challenged to navigate an unfamiliar path. You will have triumphs and trials. Be gentle with yourself, your classmates, and your professors. Each of us is climbing a steep learning curve. But through it all, know this: the Hamilton Lugar School family will be with you every step of the way.
There are few things more important and meaningful than being part of a community. Over the next few weeks, we will create multiple opportunities for you to get to know your classmates in a safe environment. We hope you’ll start by joining us for one of the following online mixers:
- Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30pm: New undergrads
- Thursday, August 27 at 6:30pm: Returning undergrads
- Friday, August 28 at 6:30pm: International undergrads
- Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30pm: Graduate students
Be well and be safe,
Dean Feinstein
