DeBoer researches transnational or global cinema and media studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of film and media with space, place, and location. She is working in collaboration with the “Framing of Global” initiative with the Center for the Study of Global Change at Indiana University in a current project. This is a five-year Mellon funded initiative under which she is developing a book manuscript titled “No Hard Edges: Contingencies of Chinese Digital Film, Media, Location.”
